Singer and Tanzanian activist, Hunter Blue , uses his dance and music as weapons to fight against homophobia . His latest single, 'So Gay', has become a song in favor of activism both within and outside the LGBT + community .

With his latest work he aims to highlight that homophobia is present worldwide and that prejudice exists everywhere, according to an interview he gave to PinkNews . It should be noted that in Tanzania, where Blue was born, it is illegal to be homosexual.

The video of 'So Gay' shows us different dance styles, which are used to express the experiences of discrimination that the singer has experienced. "I was so inspired that I learned to self-taught during hours of practice," Hunter Blue added. In addition, we can see strong movements of arms and hands in the video in order to imitate historically negative connotations, according to the dancer.

Blue aims to empower people to love and accept themselves through their dance, which is very complicated everywhere, but especially in Tanzania: "Homophobia in the customs of my community is very frequent" .

At the beginning of 2017, the country proposed an offensive against LGBT activists, who faced arrests and expulsions. In fact, 12 people were arrested in Hunter Blue's hometown because, according to the government, they violated anti-gay laws . Likewise, a charity that was responsible for sexual health was banned when conducting a workshop for the gay community.

Hunter Blue declared that this is a world in which "there are 76 countries where being gay is illegal, and within those 76, seven carry the death penalty. How can it be possible, in our time, to love someone of the same sex can end your life or imprison, stone, hit or burn someone? ".
